Radical Japan announces FIRST-EVER Radical Cup Japan championship calendar

Nov 3, 2026

8-round inaugural season confirmed, beginning in April 2027. Okayama International Circuit opens the season, with Tsukuba Circuit, Autopolis, and Sportsland SUGO completing the calendar. The reveal of the 2027 calendar took place at today's Radical Japan Okayama Exhibition Race, the first of two Winter prologue events.

Radical Japan has announced the confirmed calendar for its inaugural Radical Cup Japan 2027 championship, revealing the venues and dates for the first time at today’s Radical Japan Okayama Exhibition Race – the biggest gathering of the Radical Japan community since the brand's launch in 2025.

Four of Japan's highly respected circuits will host the inaugural season, each demanding something different of the SR3 XXR and SR3 XX*, as well as the drivers as they face off in wheel-to-wheel combat. Each of the rounds will feature a two-race format, for a total of eight races across the season:

Round 1: Okayama International Circuit – April 17-18

Round 2: Tsukuba Circuit – May 22-23

Round 3: Autopolis – June 12-13

Round 4: Sportsland SUGO – August 7-8

Organized and managed directly by Radical Japan, the inaugural Japanese season – the 15th Radical Cup championship globally and the third for the Asia region – will kick off in April at the Okayama International Circuit (April 17-18) for rounds one.

As one of Japan's most technical permanent circuits, Okayama’s layout is defined by a tight, twisting infield where mechanical grip and traction out of slow corners are critical, linked to two long straights which will reward the SR3 XXR's aerodynamics and its ability to run in a rival's slipstream.

Rounds two will take place on May 22–23 at the Tsukuba Circuit. Tsukuba’s short, flowing lap features a sequence of medium-speed corners which come in quick succession, so the SR3 XXR's downforce and its responsiveness under direction changes will be vital.

The series will then travel to Autopolis for round three on June 12–13. Set high in the mountains of Kyushu at around 800m above sea level, its long climbs, poor visibility over blind crests and 52 metres of elevation change will put the emphasis on aerodynamic stability and downforce through fast, loaded corners.

The season finale round four (August 7–8) will then bring the championship to Sportsland SUGO, which delivers the greatest elevation change (69.83m) of any circuit in Japan. The home straight climbs steeply to the line, the back straight plunges to the circuit's heaviest braking zone, and a technical second half works back uphill through the S-curves. High-speed commitment at one end of the lap and patience under braking at the other make SUGO a genuine all-round test.

Today's Okayama Exhibition Race is the first of multiple events being held by Radical Japan to prepare competitors for the 2027 season. These track day events will include driving sessions, professional driver feedback, and Vehicle Data Analysis. Spots for the events are open to the Radical community. Drivers can enter their own SR3 XXR or SR3 XX models, or reach out regarding the availability of new cars, in-stock vehicles, and used cars, or to discuss rental opportunities.

*Participating cars must be equipped with a 1,500cc engine upgrade and a cockpit safety structure.

Yuka Enomoto-Tse – Radical Japan, CEO

"Today, we are truly delighted to have successfully held our first race-format event as Radical Japan. The atmosphere in the pit was a little tense at first, but the roar of the engines at the start instantly blew that tension away.

Radical Cup Japan will officially launch as a full race series next year. Japan is home to wonderful circuits across the country. In our first year, we will cover the Tohoku, Kanto, Kansai, and Kyushu regions, giving participating drivers the chance to fully experience the unique, and sometimes radical, character of each circuit.

We have already received many expressions of interest from both Japan and overseas. We look forward to building a warm yet passionate community where all of you can compete on Japanese circuits and, someday, challenge the global Radical Cup together.”
